Systems Strengthening – Health Systems Strengthening through Leadership & Management Development

Kheth’ Impilo sought to strengthen health and community systems and services in the KwaZulu Natal (KZN) Department of Health – ILembe District.

Kheth’ Impilo partnered with SES and developed and delivered a comprehensive training and mentorship programme for district and primary healthcare managers aimed at developing them holistically and ultimately improve their ability to respond to complexities inherent to the healthcare delivery system. The tailored solution consisted of three project phases: Training Needs Assessment; Design & Development of Training material to address the identified gaps coupled with Training to impart required knowledge, followed by post training assessment to address remaining gaps and a third phase that entailed Support & Practical Implementation of concepts and initiation of service delivery improvement projects.

The projected is currently on the third phase and competency levels of district and primary healthcare managers in select leadership and managerial concepts has increased by more than 50% compared to the pre-training assessment phase.
